Australian High Commission Cook Islands

The Australian High Commission in Rarotonga represents the Australian Government's interests in Cook Islands. This involves strengthening Australia's security, enhancing Australia's prosperity, and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas. We provide a range of services to the public, including consular and some passport services. We also act on behalf of Australian Government authorities to represent Australia's interests to local, regional, and multilateral government and business organisations in Cook Islands. The Recruitment and Selection Process

Employment at the High Commission is based on merit. To be eligible for selection, all candidates must satisfy the essential job requirements and pass any probity requirements. A selection committee may be used where a number of candidates are to be assessed. A list of suitable candidates (merit list) may be established whenever the High Commission completes a selection process.

All positions advertised at the Australian High Commission, Cook Islands have a job description setting out the responsibilities and tasks of the job and the key competencies, skills, and/or qualifications required to perform in the position.

Applican's résumés are reviewed based on skills, qualifications, and relative suitability to the role. Those applicants considered most suitable may be contacted for interview.

The High Commission welcomes expressions of interest from suitably qualified Cook Islands residents and those eligible to work in the Cook Islands. Expressions of interest will be added to a temporary employment register which we can draw on for short term appointments as required. Please email [email protected]

The Australian High Commission is unable to sponsor applicants for Cook Islands work visas. The Australian High Commission will not be responsible for the cost of relocation, nor the return of the staff member and family to their country of origin at the end of the contract. All relocation costs are at the expense of the officer, including travel, personal effects, and accommodation in Cook Islands.
