Australia-Cook Islands Community Grants Program
About the grants program
The Australia-Cook Islands Community Grants Program (ACCGP) is a flexible, small grants program funded by the Australian Government. Funding is available to community groups, non-government organisations, local communities and individuals for projects designed to strengthen communities and make a sustainable positive impact. The program cannot support private businesses, and we strongly encourage applications for projects that help improve outcomes in education, economic empowerment, grassroots sporting organisations, health, education, inclusion of persons with disabilities, gender equality, environment, small scale infrastructure and agriculture.
Applicants may apply for projects that take up to one year to complete. The Australian High Commission does not provide project funding of above AUD $15,000.
The 2024-25 round for the Australia-Cook Islands Community Grants Program has now closed.
Who can apply?
Communities, individuals, Members of Parliament, locally registered NGO's, academic institutions and other organisations engaged in development activities in the Cook Islands. It is important that applicants demonstrate their contribution to the project, and applicants should ideally be involved in the project's design, development and implementation.
How much can I apply for?
We encourage applications between AUD $5,000 and AUD $15,000. Funding is paid directly to recipients on the provision of an approved invoice.
Expectations for accountability, transparency and reporting
We require a high degree of transparency and accountability in all projects. Applications must demonstrate that the risk of wastage, administration costs and other costs not delivering direct benefit or tangible outcomes to the community will be minimised.
Should your project be successful, you will be required to:
- Sign a contract specifying the terms and conditions of the grant
- Keep full financial records of all expenditure, including receipts
- Submit a progress report within six months of receiving your funding
- Submit a final report at the project's completion
- Allow and facilitate a visit by Australian High Commission representatives to the project site.
How can I apply?
All applications must be submitted through Smartygrants our online grants management system. Smartygrants operates on a web-based platform that can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.
